Aberdeen have played down reports Ugandan international midfielder Khalid Aucho is heading to Pittodrie on trial.
The 22-year-old has been the subject of a long-running transfer saga with his agent linking him with a move to Rangers before announcing it was Aberdeen who were leading the race for the player.
Now Aucho, who plays his club football in Kenya for Gor Mahia, has been told he can leave the club and it has been reported in Africa he is heading to Scotland.
Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier, who has already signed a replacement in attacker, Meddie Kagere said: “Khalid Aucho is leaving the club and he will not be with us.”
Last month, Dons manager Derek McInnes confirmed the player had been discussed and did not rule out running the rule over the player in training should the opportunity arise. However, the Dons claim to know nothing of the player joining on trial.
