Aberdeen defender Graeme Shinnie believes it is only a matter of time before the Dons start turning their dominance into goals.
The Reds fired a blank for the second successive week in the new Premiership season with a stalemate against Hearts at Pittodrie.
Chances were at a premium throughout a feisty if uneventful 90 minutes, with the Dons going closest to scoring when midfielder Wes Burns struck the crossbar.
Shinnie accepted his club’s run of three away matches in less than a week – against Maribor, St Johnstone and Ayr United – was a factor behind the Dons’ failure in the final third against the Jambos.
He said: “When we are on top we have to make the most of it by getting goals.
“We know chances and goals will come.
“Getting a clean sheet is just as important.
“Everyone knew playing four games in nine days was going to take a toll on the last game. The travelling we have done is incredible, but we love the games coming thick and fast.”
The Dons could have done with the creativity of last season’s player of the year Jonny Hayes to unlock a resolute Hearts defence.
The Irish midfielder is expected to miss this weekend’s home match against Partick Thistle and the trip to Celtic Park on August 27 with a hamstring injury.
Shinnie added: “Jonny was always going to be a massive loss. Any team would struggle without a player like that. But I feel we have got players who can step in and it is up to them to do something.”
