Leaders Cove Rangers consolidated their position at the top of the League 2 table following a 4-2 victory at Brechin, who return to bottom spot.
Manager Paul Hartley was delighted with his side’s performance and felt they could have added a few more goals to the final tally.
“I thought that some of our play, particularly in the first half, was breathtaking,” he said.
“We lost a bad goal early on but I thought that we were always in control and could have scored 10 goals.
“Apart from the goals we scored, we had some great opportunities, hitting the post and bar and their keeper has also made some outstanding saves.
“I thought that some of our play was magnificent. We wanted to be ruthless and score more goals but it was also important that we kept a clean sheet in the second half and I’m pleased we were able to do that.”
Declan Glass had an outstanding game, scoring his side’s third goal, and he echoed much of what his manager had said but was typically modest about his own contribution.
He said: “I think I’ve played better this season but it was nevertheless great to score a goal as well as having a couple of assists.
“The way we moved the ball about so quickly was just like pinball but that’s what we practise in training and it was great to see it come off during the match.
“I think we could have scored a lot more goals and four goals is perhaps very generous to Brechin with the greatest of respect to them.
The Hedgemen shocked Cove by grabbing the lead at Glebe Park after just three minutes when Luke Watt rose above the visitors defence to head home a Matthew Knox corner .
But the visitors stormed back and they levelled the match seven minutes later when Jamie Masson picked up a pass in a wide left position and drilled home a great drive.
Cove were pushing forward relentlessly and they grabbed a second goal in the 23rd minute when Mitch Megginson fired home a close-range shot.
At this stage it looked as if the rampant Cove side would notch a few more goals before the break but it was the hosts who scored next when Emile Ngoy blasted a great right-foot drive from the edge of the box.
It didn’t take long though for the visitors to stamp their authority back on proceedings with Glass slotting home goal number three seconds later after collecting a pass from Matty Smith.
Cove were firing on all cylinders and Fraser Fyvie was next in on the act, scoring his side’s fourth goal nine minutes before the break by drilling home a drive from just within the box.
It was always going to be a bit of an anti-climax after the break after such a frenetic first half.
But having said that, Cove carved out further opportunities with Brechin keeper Lewis McMinn bringing off a string of fine saves from Megginson, Masson and substitute Chris Antoniazzi with the bar and post also coming to City’s rescue.
