Leighton McIntosh believes he has learned a lot since he last played under Paul Hartley and is looking forward to linking up with his old Dundee manager.
The striker has joined Cove Rangers for their first season in League One.
In arriving at the Balmoral Stadium, McIntosh has been reunited with his former Dens Park gaffer.
Hartley took charge of Dundee in February 2014 and, although McIntosh was on loan at Arbroath at the time, he enjoyed working with the Scotland international in training prior to leaving Dee that summer.
McIntosh said: “It was a long time ago that Paul Hartley was my manager at Dundee.
“I think I was a different player back then and I was also on loan at Arbroath for a period of time when he was there as well.
“But I remember the manager and remember his training was very good. It was always good intensity and very professional.
“I’m familiar with the other coaches he has brought to Cove as well which is good.
“From Dundee to now I think I have learned a lot and I’ve played in a lot of different places and matured as a player.
“I’m sure the manager has learned a lot in that time as well and I think it will be very positive to work under him again.”
McIntosh faces plenty of competition to become a regular at Cove with Mitch Megginson and Rory McAllister already in the squad.
Jordon Brown and Broque Watson can also be deployed up front, but McIntosh is embracing the competition.
The 27-year-old added: “I relish the competition. Any team that I sign for I want to be in the starting XI.
“I think I offer something a different to what is in the team from what I’ve seen.
“As an individual you want to keep yourself at the highest standard.”
