Cove Rangers boss Jim McIntyre hailed match-winner Connor Scully as his brace helped earn a 2-0 win over Queen’s Park.
Scully took his tally to seven for the season in the Championship as he continues his remarkable form in front of goal.
It was a polished performance from Cove against the Spiders, who they failed to beat in their five previous meetings.
“He’s been brilliant. I said before the game Scully is a seven out of 10 no matter where you play him,” said McIntyre. “Sometimes he’s a nine or a 10 if he bags a couple of goals!
“I’m delighted for him. He’s really enjoying his football and a pleasure to work with. He doesn’t give you any hassle and gets on with his job.
“We started the game on the front foot – we spoke about making sure teams don’t enjoy coming here.
“We got ourselves into the lead and after that, Queens had a bit of pressure and we needed our goalkeeper to make a couple of saves.
“It was a strong performance and we created plenty of opportunities.”
McIntyre reserved praise for goalkeeper Stuart McKenzie, who was recalled to the squad for the first time this season and played a key role in Cove keeping a clean sheet.
McKenzie had been number one last year but had been behind Kyle Gourlay in the pecking order prior to Friday night.
“It’s been a frustrating period for the big man and he’ll be the first to tell you that,” said McIntyre.
“I chose to go with Kyle and he did brilliantly but his form dipped over the last couple of games and Stu deserved his chance.
“He certainly shown how good a goalkeeper he is. I’m very pleased with his performance and he deserves a lot of credit.”
The one downside to the evening for Cove was Mitch Megginson picking up a suspension after collecting his sixth yellow card of the campaign.
