Elgin City midfielder Brian Cameron faces an uncertain wait over an Achilles injury that rules him out of today’s League 2 game against Clyde at Broadwood.
Cameron, who has netted 16 goals from midfield this term, suffered the injury in last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Montrose and manager Jim Weir is concerned he could join leading scorer Shane Sutherland in suffering a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Weir said: “He is a major concern. His absence probably takes 30 goals out of our team. He really is our driving force.
“We have no timescale yet but he was on crutches after the Montrose game which doesn’t fill me full of hope.
“I’m hopeful the medical team can get him ready for the remaining games.”
Elgin are third in League 2 and have a four-point advantage over Stirling Albion and Montrose who are chasing a play-off place. Weir says the Black and Whites must add to their haul in the push for promotion.
He added: “There are still 12 points to play for, so we have got to make sure we get enough from our last four games.
“The teams below us have momentum, while we have been hit by injuries and are nowhere near top form.
“Things have totally changed since we beat Clyde 4-1 in February. We were at full strength and playing really well. Clyde are now fighting for their lives and got a great 2-1 win against a good Annan side last week.”
