Elgin manager Jim Weir is seeking a quick to his side’s slide after the Black and Whites squandered a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at Clyde.
This could prove a costly loss for the Borough Briggs men and Weir said: “We got off to the perfect start and the score looked good at half time, but I was not getting fooled.
“I spoke to the Clyde co-manager Peter MacDonald coming off the pitch at the break and agreed that I did not know how they were behind.
“Our defending was embarrassing at times and I tried to get that message across at half-time.
“Sometimes it is important to win games as opposed to how we play for the 90 minutes. We need to defend for the 90 minutes and we did not do that.
“We have led in four games and not won one of them and there is a reason for that.
“I asked the players to take responsibility and to get us the three points but it did not happen again.”
Key players missing at crucial times is proving costly and Weir added: “I am not looking for excuses for the way we defended.
“We did have to make changes as we have key players out. Brian Cameron, who is massive for us, was missing as was our captain Archie Macphee which meant we needed to reshuffle our back four.
“I am still disappointed at how we defended. At the second goal I thought it was more of our free kick than Clyde’s. We still need to set ourselves up correctly so I am not blaming the officials for anything. These players are in a struggle now.
“We have lost too many contests recently and hopefully we can have a couple of players back next week when we meet Stirling.
“We need to see a reaction.”
