Elgin City manager Gavin Price is seeking stability in his squad after securing left back Euan Spark on a new two-year contract.
Former Dundee United full back Spark joined the Black and Whites in the summer after leaving Brechin City, with the 22-year-old playing in all 24 of Elgin’s matches this term.
Price says Spark is the first of many he hopes to tie down to extended terms, and the Elgin boss said: “We are really pleased with that. Euan has been excellent since he has come in, he’s a good personality around the club.
“It’s good news, and hopefully there will be more to come. I think the squad we have got is a good age and we are quite hopeful we will keep the majority of them together going into next season.”
Elgin return to League 2 action when they make the trip to Stenhousemuir tonight, with the Moray side aiming for a quick reaction after suffering a stoppage time 2-1 loss to Stirling Albion at Borough Briggs on Saturday.
Price added: “It’s a bit of a gut-wrencher for everybody to lose a game in the manner we did with the last kick of the ball.
“Hopefully we can get that out of the system. It was a good second half from us, where we probably deserved to go on and win the game rather than lose it.
“There was a wee bit of naivety in terms of over committing in the final few minutes which we probably didn’t need to.
“It’s something to learn from. I’m still confident enough with the form at the moment, but we really need to start getting consistency with results.
“Anybody can beat anybody in this league, it’s all about what happens on the day. We’ve just got to make sure we take care of ourselves and we will see what we come up against.”
Elgin’s defeat saw them fall five points adrift of the play-off places, however Price remains encouraged by his side’s displays.
He added: “By and large over the last two months the form has been good. Do I think we are getting enough points for the way we are playing? Probably not.
“We’ve got to be a bit more streetwise at times, which is probably a criticism of Elgin over the last few years. For the play we have, we possibly don’t pick up enough points.
“Hopefully we can get that and be up at the right end of the table come the end of the season.”
