Elgin City manager Gavin Price is refusing to rule today’s League Two opponents Albion Rovers out of the race for a promotion play-off spot.
Rovers, in ninth, are 12 points adrift of fourth-placed Queen’s Park, but they have three games in hand over the Spiders.
Although Rovers’ prime objective is to move further away from bottom-placed Brechin City, who they are seven points clear of, Price reckons the Coatbridge outfit will view today’s fixture – which was ruled on after a 7.30am pitch inspection – as an opportunity to spark a late push up the table.
Price said: “You’ll find between now and the end of the season that every team has got something to play for.
“Whether it’s Cove and Edinburgh going for the title, or teams in the mix for the play-offs.
“Albion Rovers could be a run of results from being in that play-off hunt.
“They’ve got three games in hand, so I’m sure they are not giving up on that either. We’ve got to be wary of that.
“In every game we play, teams from one to 10 are going to be fully motivated to get the points.
“We are one of these teams as well and that’s the way the league should be.”
Leading scorer Shane Sutherland remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, although Price is hopeful the 25-goal forward will return to training next week.
Elgin will also be without former Rovers forward Smart Osadolor due to an agreement between the clubs when the Nigerian moved to Borough Briggs last month.
Elgin have won on their last four trips to Cliftonhill but Price is taking nothing for granted against Kevin Harper’s men.
He added: “We fully expect a hard match. It’s a difficult place to go, even though we did well there earlier in the season – and a couple of times last season as well.
“We are going there with confidence. We we’ll have to be at our best, but if we are I’m sure we can get the three points.
“A positive result against Albion Rovers could see us in the top four.
“Every positive result we get at this stage of the season will improve our position, and our chances of getting into the play-offs.”
