Elgin City have signed former Ross County striker Joel Macbeath on a two-year deal.

Macbeath, who was on loan at League One side Montrose last season, was let go by County in the summer.

He strengthen’s City’s forward options, after Shane Sutherland’s departure and Daniel MacKay’s return to parent club Caley Thistle.

Macbeath said: “I am delighted to join Elgin City which will allow me to focus on the next chapter of my career.

“I know what the club did last season and hopefully we can go one step further this year by clinching promotion.

“The club has high aspirations and a great history which encouraged me to sign. I am looking forward to meeting the rest of my team and getting started.”

It comes on the heels of Conor O’Keefe, Stephen Bronsky and Russell Dingwall all committing their futures to the club.

Chairman Graham Tatters added: “We are delighted to sign Joel. He will be a good addition to our squad and we are pleased he has chosen to commit his future to the club.

“He is an Elgin lad and although he is still only 19, he has already gained valuable experience in Division 1 while on loan at Montrose. It also is great to have another local player added to our squad.”
