Elgin City have signed former St Mirren forward Thomas Reilly in time for this afternoon’s League 2 match against Berwick Rangers.
Reilly came through the youth ranks with the Paisley side, making 41 appearances for the Buddies, scoring once.
The 20-year-old has joined City until the end of the season and will compete for an attacking berth with Craig Gunn, Kyle Macleod and Connor McLaren, with manager Jim Weir set to add another forward on loan next week.
Weir said: “Thomas played 20 odd games in the Premiership last season.
“He is very good technically and is a creative player.
“Competition for places up front is important and we hope to add another one next week.”
Elgin are looking to bounce back, having lost 2-0 against Montrose at Links Park last weekend.
The Black and Whites boast a 100% record at Borough Briggs which Weir is determined to keep going.
Weir added: “I need to get a reaction because we have got a good home record and it’s important we maintain that.
“I just feel in the last few games we have been a bit flat, we have not been quite as creative or dominant as we have been.
“We need to make the most of the home games, and the support has been excellent.”
Elsewhere, East Fife player-manager Gary Naysmith is looking for his men to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Annan when they host Arbroath.
Naysmith said: “Annan were just slightly better than us on their own pitch so we have to take that one on the chin and move on.”
