Elgin City manager Jim Weir expects a response from his players when bottom club East Stirling visit Borough Briggs today.
The Black and Whites manager is still bristling with disappointment following his side’s unusually poor display in losing 3-1 at Montrose last Saturday.
He said: “We were poor and it wasn’t like us at all. We didn’t impose ourselves on the game and it was one which I didn’t see coming. It was our poorest performance since I joined the club.
“We created our own problems and got what we deserved, but there’s no time to feel sorry for ourselves. We’ve got to bounce back and with three home games in a row I expect us to do that.
“It is getting really tight at the top and our aim all season has been to secure a play-off spot. We’re on course to do that, but we know we cannot allow standards to drop.
“We were punished by Montrose and East Stirling can punish us as well if we don’t show a big improvement. I can accept a poor performance once, but there can be no repeat.”
Weir hopes a return to Borough Briggs, where his side has been dominant this term, can help the club get back to winning ways.
He said: “We have been strong all season at home and every one of our remaining home games are going to massive.
“The home support has played its part in what we’ve achieved so far, but there is still a long way to go. We are trying to achieve something here this season and our supporters can help us by getting behind the team.”
