Paul Lambert’s sacking at Aston Villa means there are no full-time Scottish managers in the Barclays Premier League for the first time.
Scottish managers have been a fixture in the Premier League since it’s inception in 1992 – until now.
Paul Lambert and former West Brom boss Alan Irvine started the season as the only Scottish bosses in the English top flight – down from six at the beginning of the 2011-12 campaign.
The number had not been as low as two since 1995-96 when Bruce Rioch and Sir Alex Ferguson were in charge of Arsenal and Manchester United respectively.
While the Premier League Scottish manager is now extinct, there are still plenty of Scots one level down, in the Championship.
Alex Neil, Dougie Freedman, Steve Clarke and Malky Mackay are all currently employed in the second tier.
