Strathspey Thistle lifted themselves off the foot of the table courtesy of their point in Saturday’s derby draw, although Nairn should have been out of sight by the interval.
Jags manager Brian Grant said: “We had chances to win it in the end and in the second half we were the better side by a mile but we were lucky not to go in at half-time five or six goals down as Nairn dominated the first half.
“We scored the opener against the run of play with our first shot at goal, a tremendous strike from James McShane in the 34th minute from a quick free kick but that was all we did in the first half.”
County manager Ronnie Sharp said: “We really could have had them dead and buried by half-time when we should have been 6-0 ahead as they weren’t in it all in the first half.
“We never converted any of those chances in a game which we really should have won. That has been our problem all season, we are making chance-after-chance every game and we really do need to get more out of our front men.”
McShane’s superb 34th minute strike was cancelled out by County’s Gary Kerr three minutes before the break.
Jags restored their advantage six minutes into the second period when young Ryan Macleod fired home a volley but home joy was shortlived as County levelled again thanks to Jordan Macrae’s header.
