Nairn County goalkeeper Dylan Maclean might only be out of action for a fortnight after a scare on Saturday when he was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
Nine minutes into the second half in last weekend’s 3-1 Station Park defeat by Turriff United, Maclean, 21, was hit in the face by a point-blank David Ross drive, resulting in him being substituted.
At the time there had been concerns over possible bone fractures but after tests and observation he was released from hospital on Saturday night suffering from whiplash, slight concussion and a neck muscle strain.
Maclean said: “I’ll be off my work with a construction company for a few days but, although I’m still a bit sore, I would like to think I’ll be fit enough to play the week after next.
“After I got hit in the face with the ball I don’t remember anything until our physio Scott MacDonald was speaking to me. It was all a bit of a blur at the time but I’d like to thank Scott and Turriff United’s physio, Donal Gallagher. They both looked after me brilliantly to calm me down and stabilise me before the ambulance arrived.
“I was in the hospital in Inverness until around 8pm on Saturday. I’d like to thank everyone who was involved in looking after me at Station Park. They were absolutely brilliant.”
