Turriff United manager Ross Jack was happy with his side’s gritty performance against Cove at Harlaw Park.
He said: “I suppose you could look on it as a point gained. We had the lion’s share of the first half in terms of balls into the box but Cove defended really well and that’s why they’re at the top of the table.
“We reacted really well after losing 3-2 at Formartine United on Wednesday and I am delighted with the overall performance.
“Kevin Main never really had many shots to save but he cut crosses out and tipped them over the bar, showing he’s a quality goalkeeper. The whole team worked extremely hard to not concede a goal.
“We also had opportunities to score which we could have done better with.”
Jack paid tribute to Turriff’s inspirational captain Cammy Bowden, who was superb after passing a late fitness test.
The manager said: “Cammy is an unbelievable skipper, he has been fantastic for us. If you had seen the state of his knee after the game at Formartine you would have given him no hope of playing here today. But he is so determined and thrawn. He wanted to prove he was fit, even although yesterday we thought he had no chance. He’s a leader.”
