Locos manager Neil Cooper was able to celebrate six wins recorded in their last seven matches after a hard-fought victory against Nairn.
Cooper said: “I spoke to the players about the importance of holding the ball up.
“Andy Hunter certainly did that with his supply to Colin Charlesworth, and it was another great finish from him
“It was a difficult day for creative players, it was a match for good defenders. Daniel Crisp was outstanding throughout, he got himself into good positions to hold off opponents and clear the danger.
“He took a few knocks during the game and had to come off a few times for treatment. Neil McLean was composed as well, he found his range of passes and I was pleased with them.”
Locos were in front in the fourth minute when Hunter’s well-weighted pass set up midfielder Charlesworth who tucked the ball neatly low past goalkeeper Dylan MacLean.
With heavy rain and a blustery wind spoiling much of the first half, goalmouth incidents were few and far between.
After the restart Dean Donaldson had a header saved by MacLean then Nairn substitute Jordan MacRae was in good position but was unable to finish.
Locos right back Connor Rennie had to be stretchered off with an ankle injury forcing a reshuffle for the home team and it was the two captains who came nearest to scoring.
McLean walzed into the County box but shot over then Wayne Mackintosh tried his luck with a long-range free kick that was just off target. Nairn manager Ronnie Sharp said: “It was the story of our season, we’ve now lost 11 games by just the one goal.
“We weren’t clinical enough in the final third although we controlled the game after the first 15 minutes.”
