Deveronvale claimed the points but were made to work for victory at Seafield Park.
Vale manager Steve Dolan said: “There wasn’t much in it in the first half when it was fairly even, but in the second half we had enough chances to win the game.
“We got the goals in the end and it was good to end the season on a winning note with a double from Grant Noble. He scored both his goals when he dropped back into midfield. It was equally good Dane Ballard came back in and scored.”
Jags manager Brian Grant said: “We played very well but there wasn’t really much between the two sides before we ran out of steam after about 70 minutes.
“We had the four best chances of the game, two in the first half, both of them one-on-ones before they scored. They fell to trialist Chris Graham, unfortunately the Vale goalkeeper stood up and saved both times.”
Vale took the lead in the 75th minute when Ballard netted from a corner kick and with seven minutes left Noble doubled the Banffers’ advantage, again from a corner, and he completed the scoring two minutes from time.
