Headed goals in both halves meant Fraserburgh ended their season with a 2-0 win.
After exiting two cups at the hands of Huntly this season, Fraserburgh manager Mark Cowie was pleased to pick up six points against the Strathbogie side in the league and secure a top-five finish.
Cowie said: “We went out at the start of the season to challenge for the league, but by Christmas that was gone, so the next step was to be the best of the rest. We’ve finished on a high after three defeats prior to today, we capitalised with the first goal when Jamie Beagrie scored but we created the bulk of the chances, and Paul Campbell came off the bench to put the ball in the back of the net for the second, that’s what he does best.”
The deadlock was broken 13 minutes when the visiting defence were caught ball-watching and Beagrie beat John Farquhar to the ball for a free header.
With seven minutes to go Marc Dickson and Michael Rae combined down the right before Dickson delivered a cross for substitute Campbell to head home.
For the first time this season Huntly suffered four straight league defeats and co-manager Andy Roddie said: “If we don’t defend properly we’re not going to pick up points or win games.
“We can’t give other teams chances like we’ve been doing lately, we’ve lost the last four games and in all of them there’s been goals conceded that could have been prevented, and we’ve told the players it’s not good enough.”
