A virtuoso performance from Brora Rangers forward Paul Brindle saw him net a hat-trick and provide two assists in a crushing 7-0 win over Lossiemouth at Dudgeon Park.
Brora manager Steven Mackay came off the bench to score his first league goal of the season, and he was impressed with his team’s second half display.
He said: “I’m happy with the three points and a clean sheet, but I still think there is more to come from us.
“We were too slack in the first half, but the second half was far more like us.
“We now look forward to the derby (against Wick Academy in the North of Scotland Cup) on Wednesday.”
Dutchman Bjorn Wagenaar replaced the injured Kyle Macleod for Brora, with Lossie bringing in Ross Elliott in place of Fraser Forbes.
The home side flew out of the blocks and took the lead in the sixth minute, Wagenaar making the most of his starting opportunity to net the opener.
Brindle then headed over the crossbar from a Jordan Macrae cross as Brora pushed for a second.
The former Clach striker got the goal he deserved just before the half hour mark, firing home to put the Cattachs two in front.
Ten minutes before half time Brindle grabbed his second and Brora’s third to put them firmly in control.
Brora player-manager Steven Mackay was called into action before the break, replacing the injured Marc Nicolson.
Gavin Morrison made it four in the 55th minute and just two minutes later Brindle completed his hat-trick to bring up Brora’s nap hand.
Substitute Mackay then got his first league goal of the season to rack up number six in the 69th minute.
Fellow replacement Scott Davidson completed the scoring from the penalty spot in injury time.
The win moves Brora back to the top of the table on goal difference, four goals clear of Fraserburgh in second.
