Formartine United will travel to Buckie Thistle in the quarter final of the Morrison Motors (Turriff) Aberdeenshire Shield on Wednesday November 13.
United came back from 1-0 down at the break to stun Vale with three goals in a blistering eight-minute spell at a chilly Princess Royal Park last night.
Deveronvale were without central defender Michael Dunn who got a late call to go to work while his younger brother, Scott Dunn, was on the bench.
Formartine United left out striker Garry Wood, midfielder and captain Stuart Anderson and keeper Kevin Main, Errol Watson taking his place between the sticks.
Deveronvale took the lead in the sixth minute when full back Sam Robertson sped up the right wing and crossed for Robert Scott to fire home his eighth goal of the season from just inside the six yard box, that opener coming slightly against the run of play.
United responded when man-of-the-match Scott Lisle acutely angled drive which could only find the side-netting.
Colin Charlesworth really have made it 2-0 to the home side in the ninth minute but when clean through on goal he shot weakly straight at Watson.
Two minutes later Craig McKeown tried his luck from distance but his rising 35-yard drive sailed over Grant Pennet’s cross-bar.
Then Aaron Norris tested Pennet with a ferocious 25-yarder which the Vale goalkeeper managed to hold at the second attempt.
Seven minutes from the break Gary McGowan almost levelled but his header from a Norris cross looped over the crossbar.
Ten minutes after the restart Deveronvale passed up another chance to double their advantage when Scott broke through but his parting shot was straight at Watson.
Four minutes later Charlesworth took a Scott feed and warmed Watson’s hands with a fierce 15 yard angle drive as the home side searched for a second.
Formartine equalised in the 68th minute, McKeown’s towering header from an Aaron Norris free kick.
Two minutes later Lisle fired Formartine ahead with a crisp 12-yard finish.
Graeme Rodger made it 3-1 to the visitors in the 76th minute with as thumping 12 yard drive that whizzed past Pennet.
For the fourth, Conor Gethins played in fellow substitute Garry Wood through and he smashed the ball high from 12 yards.
