Fraserburgh beat Banks o’ Dee on penalties following an enthralling Aberdeenshire Shield tie at Spain Park.
The Broch will meet Keith at Kynoch Park in the quarter-final after goalie Greg Sim saved spot-kicks from Dee’s Jamie Buglass and Mark Gilmour and Sean Butcher,
Kieran Simpson, Owen Cairns and Willie West scored from 12 yards.
In a match played at a ferocious pace Dee took the lead in the 13th minute when Michael Philipson burst into the box on the right and his low cross was turned into the net by Rob Armstrong.
The visitors responded with Kieran Simpson heading just wide from an Owen Cairns corner on 25 minutes and shortly after they did equalise.
Scott Barbour rolled his marker in the penalty area and the striker’s shot from 15 yards was deflected into the path of Paul Young who forced the ball past goalie Andy Shearer from six yards.
Simpson had another header from a Cairns corner booted off the line before half-time as Fraserburgh looked for a second, while at the other end keeper Greg Sim held Philipson’s snapshot.
The second half started with both sides playing at a high intensity and the Broch got their second goal seven minutes after the restart.
Ryan Cowie’s free-kick from the left was flicked on by Sean Butcher and sub Paul Campbell with Barbour firing the loose ball into the bottom right corner.
The Junior side replied on the hour when Philipson’s cutback from the right found Gilmour, but the midfielder could only shoot straight at Sim from 12 yards.
Campbell hit the crossbar from 25 yards 10 minutes from time as the Broch looked for a third.
But Dee managed to equalise a minute from time with Buglass scoring from Philipson’s corner to force penalties.
