Stuart Smith hopes Formartine United can add to their impressive recent record in the Scottish Cup.
The Pitmedden side have beaten SPFL sides in each of the last four seasons of the cup and could earn a fourth-round spot with victory over East Kilbride today.
They beat Clyde during the 2015-16 campaign, before a 4-0 hammering of Annan a year later.
The 2017-18 campaign brought the arrival of Paul Lawson as manager and a run to the fourth round, where they beat Forfar Athletic 1-0, and last year Albion Rovers were beaten 2-0 on their home patch.
Former Peterhead defender Smith believes the incentive of a fourth-round tie can help Formartine continue their run of results in the Scottish Cup.
He said: “We’ve had some really good results in the Scottish Cup and the aim is to keep that going.
“Partick Thistle a few years back was memorable, as coming up against a Premiership side doesn’t happen very often. But in terms of results, Clyde and Forfar at home were good days.
“It’s a massive game for us. You look forward to the draw and who knows who you can end up with. You’d hope to pull out one of the big teams or alternatively, a winnable tie to progress into another round.”
Smith believes it will provide a welcome break from the Highland League, where they have had an inconsistent start to the season.
He added: “If you get a positive result then you can bring that into the league.
“The Highland League is the same as most leagues in that you can play teams three or four times a season, with the cup competitions, so a change is always good.”
