Inverurie Locos boss Andy Low was bitterly disappointed after his side lost ground on Brora Rangers at the top of the Highland League after losing 3-2 at Nairn County.
Jonny Smith missed from the penalty spot for the visitors before Locos broke the deadlock through Neil MacLean after 27 minutes.
But Nairn restored parity two minutes before the break with Scott Davidson netting his first goal for County.
Davidson put County in front seven minutes into the second half after Andy Reid failed to hold a Cohen Ramsay free-kick.
Chris Angus fired home the equaliser for Locos in the 73rd minute.
The home side were not to be denied, however, with Gordon McNab notching the winner two minutes from time with a smart finish.
The result leaves Locos six points behind Brora having played one game more.
Low said: “We’ve put in a lot of good team performances lately but Saturday wasn’t one of them.
“I felt we lost our battles all over the park and we paid the price for that.
“It’s a difficult one to take because the lads have been doing so well.
“The players are hurting as much as I am and I know I’ll get a good response in training.
“But we need to work out where it went wrong and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
