Caley Thistle midfielder Jack Brown has cut short his loan spell with Fort William to join Rothes until the end of the season.
Brown was one of the nine loanees who joined Fort at the start of the season, with the 18-year-old netting the winner in the 1-0 victory over Clachnacuddin in September which ended the Lochaber side’s 74-game run without a league victory.
Brown has now been loaned to Ross Jack’s Speysiders, who sit third in the Highland League, for the rest of the campaign, with the midfielder going straight into the squad for Saturday’s home match against leaders Brora Rangers.
Rothes have enjoyed an excellent run which leaves them seven points behind Brora with a game in hand, however Jack is refusing to look too far ahead.
Jack said: “Nobody is getting carried away with the situation we are in – and nobody is going to get too down if we lose two or three.
“The response of the players has been outstanding but there is a heck of a long way to go in what we are planning for in the next couple of years.
“It’s a building process. We are probably ahead of schedule, but now we are here we will try to make the most of it.
“We are just going about our business in an unassuming manner and trying to keep under the radar if we can.
“With the run we are on, if I was managing another team we would obviously be trying to halt them and put them in their place. Brora will be no different.”
Jack feels Brora will represent his side’s biggest challenge since he took charge at Mackessack Park, with the former Elgin City and Turriff United manager adding: “It probably is the biggest test. People are saying we haven’t really played the top teams yet, but we can only beat the teams in front of us. It’s not our problem.
“If you look at the league you would think it’s Brora’s to lose, but there will be a few teams that think they can also stand in their way and challenge.
“We’ve got no illusions in terms of the size of the task.”
