Fraserburgh warmed up for Wednesday’s Aberdeenshire Shield final with a 6-0 win against Lossiemouth.

Scott Barbour netted an early opener before Greg Buchan doubled the lead on 21 minutes.

On-loan Peterhead midfielder Ross Willox scored twice before the break before Paul Young and Gary Harris completed the scoring in the second half.

Fraserburgh now turn their attention to their midweek final against Inverurie Locos at Balmoral Stadium.

Broch assistant manager James Duthie said: “It has been a bit stop-start for us over the past six weeks with games being off.

“There was a bit of rustiness so it was pleasing to keep a clean sheet and score some goals. The other important thing was to pick up no injuries before Wednesday’s cup final and we managed to do that.”

Inverurie Locos had a free weekend but Duthie believes the additional rest will count for little come Wednesday night.

He added: “Some people were saying that it might be better being fresh and getting the weekend off before the cup final.

“Other people felt it was better to keep playing and build momentum.

“It is all a matter of opinion but I don’t think it will have any bearing on Wednesday.”
