Gavin Morrison hopes to be part of a Brora Rangers promotion party come the summer.
The long-serving midfielder called time on his Cattachs career after their game against Rothes, as work commitments in Dunfermline had made travelling up for games difficult.
After moving from Inverness last year, Morrison had been training with League 2 side Cowdenbeath, with whom he signed a short-term contract at the end of the week.
Cowdenbeath may still go up this year – most likely through the play-offs – but Morrison also lives close to Kelty Hearts’ ground, who Brora could face in the SPFL play-off if they win the Highland League title.
“It would be an absolute dream if I could watch Brora go and win that play-off and get into the league,” said Morrison, who started his career with Caley Thistle.
“It was a hard decision to make (to walk away) because of that target to go and win the league. The way things are going, it’s looking very positive. That could well be achieved.
“I will be supporting them all the way. Kelty Hearts are top of the Lowland League and that’s only five miles from where I am.”
While it was a wrench to leave a club he had played for the last seven years, Morrison felt it was a decision he had to make. His partner is due to give birth at the end of this month and travelling from Dunfermline up to games had become an arduous process.
His last game for Steven Mackay’s side came in the 1-0 win over Rothes, which kept Brora clear at the top of the Highland League. Morrison added: “I was emotional after the game, knowing that could be it.”
