A magnificent seven-goal salvo from Fraserburgh moved them up to third in the Highland League.
The Broch were ruthless as they thrashed Huntly at Bellslea last night to leapfrog Buckie Thistle and Rothes in the table.
It was a poor display from the visitors as the clinical Buchan outfit turned on the style.
It was Fraserburgh who made all the running in the first half.
After some early probing the home side worked Huntly goalkeeper Euan Storrier for the first time in the 13th minute with the stopper doing well to hold Grant Campbell’s angled drive.
Soon after Broch captain Willie West shot narrowly wide from eight yards and Paul Young had a volley deflected wide.
However, in the 24th minute Fraserburgh got the lead their play deserved.
Ryan Cowie’s cross from the right found Campbell, but Storrier made a fine fingertip save to turn the header over, from Cowie’s corner Ryan Sargent forced the ball across goal for Jamie Beagrie to score from six yards.
Huntly’s only notable attack in the first period was a Craig Dorrat free-kick from the edge of the box in the 33rd minute that keeper Paul Leask dealt with comfortably.
Seconds later the Broch doubled their advantage with Sean Butcher beating the Black and Golds’ defence to Owen Cairns’ ball down the right before poking a finish past Storrier.
Nine minutes before half-time it was 3-0 when Cowie’s pass down the left freed Sargent and he unselfishly laid the ball across for Scott Barbour to score from close range and in the 42nd minute Cairns gleefully rammed home number four at the back post after a cross from the left evaded Sargent.
There was no let up from Fraserburgh after the interval and eight minutes after the restart they scored a fifth.
Cowie’s corner wasn’t cleared and when it broke to Campbell he lashed the ball beyond Storrier.
After the hour the Broch notched a sixth when Barbour’s pinpoint cross from the left was flicked into the net by Sargent.
Huntly’s attacking forays in the second half amount to an Ashley Ballam header wide and a scooped effort over from Chris Hay.
And Fraserburgh were still pushing for more goals. Butcher’s glancing header from a Cowie right wing free-kick clipped the left post and with 10 minutes left Barbour’s inswinging corner from the right beat everyone and found the net.
