Brora Rangers chairman William Powrie insists the Scottish FA’s decision to shut down all football “until further notice” is the right move.
All domestic professional and grassroots football under the jurisdiction of the SFA is now suspended.
Currently top of the Highland League, Brora were set to host Buckie Thistle in the Highland League Cup semi-final today.
Powrie said: “We are fully understanding and supportive of the action the authorities have taken.
“We can only really be guided by them on what to do next and when to do it.
“Until further notice is the right thing because it could mean next week or next month.
“Until we see the spread of the virus I don’t think anyone can know what time you can put on this.
“We will go along with it and hopefully can pick up where we left off when we do get going again.”
The decision on whether the players continue to train together will be left to manager Steven Mackay.
Powrie anticipates the shutdown to hit clubs financially.
He said: “Every single club will feel the effect of having no income, regardless of your financial position.
“We obviously don’t want it to go on for too long because that would start to have an effect on income. We will have to get by as best we can, as will every club.
“It is not just Highland League clubs that will feel the financial pinch, it is all the way up the food chain.”
