Highland League secretary Rod Houston says the decision to award Brora Rangers the Highland League title was unanimous.
Following a meeting between member clubs at Lossiemouth on Saturday, the league confirmed the 2019-20 was deemed to have concluded on March 13 and declared Brora champions.
The Cattachs were 13 points clear of second-pace Inverurie Locos with two games in hand.
It was also confirmed that the semi-finals and the final of the Highland League Cup will be played at the start of the 2020-21 campaign.
Houston said: “When the clubs made a decision as significant as this you hope that people will take time to see there was reasoning behind it and that it wasn’t a knee-jerk thing.
“They took their time, deliberated fully and came up with what they thought was the best solution. It was part of a meeting dealing with a whole raft of things as we were putting the organisation into, not quite a full hibernation, but we are aware it is some time before football will be played again. There was a commonly held view that all of the dates we are hearing about over the next few months suffer from a serious overdose of optimism.
“All of the medical information and public health information we were able to get indicated that it will be a very long lay-off.”
The final league placings for the other clubs for the 2019-20 season have not been formalised given the huge difference in games played between some clubs.
Bottom side Fort William played only 20 games, while second-placed Inverurie Locos played 28.
Houston added: “It should also be pointed out that the club most likely to finish close to Brora, Fraserburgh, moved the motion. That gives you the sense of how unanimous it was.”
