Stefan Laird has joined Huntly as assistant manager.

Laird, who previously coached Aberdeen Ladies, has become the first recruit of new manager Allan Hale’s backroom staff at Christie Park.

Hale said: “I am pleased that Stefan has agreed to join the club as assistant manager.

“Stefan is an experienced coach who boasts an impressive CV and I know he is someone who will work well with myself, players and board at the club.

“Stefan and I share a similar outlook on how the game should be played and he has the right attributes to make an excellent contribution to the club.”

Huntly chairman Gordon Carter believes Laird will be the perfect foil for new boss Hale as the duo continue their preparations for the new Highland League campaign – whenever that may be.

He said: “We are delighted to have secured the services of Stefan.

“Stefan played professionally in Scotland and England before injury cut short his playing career.

“He then moved into professional coaching and has quickly made a name for himself. He has built an impressive CV in his young career and is fully qualified holding multiple Uefa licences.

“I am confident that Allan and Stefan will form an excellent partnership and get the best out of what is a young talented squad of players.”
