James Innes is the new Wick Academy chairman.
He replaces Colin Stewart, who stepped down before the end of the season.
The 38-year old, who was born and bred at Wick and runs the Achairn Energy windfarm five miles from his home town, has been joined in the Harmsworth Park boardroom by Eann Plowman, a project manager at Dounreay, who is the Caithness club’s new vice-chairman.
Innes, who is also a youth coach in the Caithness town, said: “I dare say that every chairman of a football club would like to put their stamp on things and put some plans into action, and I am no different. I hope to use the knowledge I have gained in my business life to good effect.
“I am a Caley Thistle season-ticket holder but last season when Inverness were away from home and Academy were at Harmsworth Park that’s where you could find me on a Saturday afternoon. The boys’ club players actually train on a Saturday morning and that also affected my attendance at Caledonian Stadium.
“I have been a youth coach at East End Boys’ Club at Wick for the last eight years and it is important we get kids away from their video games and enjoying sport.”
Innes hopes to use his experience to help recruit Academy players of the future. He said: “The way ahead for Academy is to devote much more time and energy to our youth set-up. I am quite passionate about that and I also want to build better links with other Caithness football clubs.”
