Formartine United midfielder Dan Park feels most Highland League clubs could safely allow fans to attend games.
The season will now start in late November at the earliest, given the pause put on spectators returning by the Scottish Government and the league’s desire not to start without them.
The argument has been raised by numerous people in the sport about the hospitality industry being able to continue with dozens of people in an enclosed environment.
However, the 300 fans at games at Aberdeen and Ross County appear to be a fortunate few who got to see football live, with worst-case predictions of six months without fans through the gate.
Park, who has also turned out for Cove Rangers, said he has felt safe returning to training and playing friendly games, adding that most clubs could safely permit fans into grounds.
“At a lot of Highland League grounds, you could get a couple of hundred fans in and socially-distance them.
“Speaking for myself, the Highland League have said with no fans, it won’t go ahead. I don’t think it will be starting.
“You can go into restaurants, pubs and bars, but you can’t stand two metres apart with a mask on at a football match.
“It will affect most of Scottish football and have a massive impact on people in a lot of different ways. The clubs obviously can’t survive without guys coming through the gate.”
