Goalkeeper Kevin Main is looking forward to getting his career back on track at Turriff United following his acrimonious departure from Buckie Thistle.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper has moved to the Haughs on a two and a half year deal for an undisclosed fee, bringing to an end his 11-year spell at Victoria Park.
Main put in a transfer request at Buckie last month after being fined £50 for attending a family wedding, despite claiming he had been given permission from manager Gary Hake to miss a game against Rothes in August.
Main, who won the Highland League twice with the Jags, said: “I am really happy I’m joining such an ambitious club as Turriff United and I’m glad all the recent uncertainty about my football future is now at an end and I can concentrate on playing again.
“I would have liked the circumstances of my leaving Buckie to be different, but my 11 years at Victoria Park were tremendous and I loved every minute of it – apart from the way it all ended.
“But it is now time for me to look for a fresh challenge. I haven’t played for a month although I have been keeping myself fit.”
Main is targeting a Scottish Cup debut for Turriff against Clyde on Saturday.
He said: “I am not cup-tied so I am available for the Clyde game, but Greg Sim has been in brilliant form recently with six clean-sheets.
“It is now up to me to push Greg in training and if I get a chance to take it. Hopefully I will be in the squad this weekend.”
