Ally Macleod aims to repay Deveronvale for taking a gamble on appointing him as manager.
The former Nairn County assistant manager, who brought his four-year spell at Station Park to an end in the summer, has been appointed as Charlie Charlesworth’s successor at Princess Royal Park.
The 34-year-old, who underwent a bone marrow transplant earlier this year as part of his treatment for leukaemia, will be assisted at the Banff club by former Inverurie Locos under-21 coach Craig Stratton.
He said: “I’m thankful to Deveronvale for taking a chance.
“They’re appointing two young coaches in Craig and me, but we both have our A licence and we are hungry for the chance to prove ourselves.
“We’re fortunate not to have a game this weekend as it will give us a chance to meet the players and have a look at them in training.”
Macleod has already done his homework to ensure he is ready for his first day at work tomorrow with the players.
He said: “I’ve watched the last three Vale games while Craig has watched two and there is a good squad here.
“There is a lot of talent, we believe there is a lot to work with and we’re aiming to get the best out of them.”
Macleod also plans on appointing a first team coach to join his staff but there is no place in the backroom set-up for Stuart Cameron and Colin Smith who were in charge on a caretaker basis following Charlesworth’s resignation last month.
