Former Aberdeen and Caley Thistle midfielder Stuart Duff has signed a short-term contract with Cove Rangers.
Duff made his Highland League debut on Saturday in Cove’s 5-4 victory against Inverurie Locos at Harlaw Park and manager John Sheran is delighted to have landed such an experienced player.
Sheran said: “We have been chasing Stuart for a few weeks. We have been needing someone to take charge of things in the middle of the park and Stuart certainly did that against Locos.”
Duff began his career at Dundee United, where he made 171 appearances before joining the Dons in 2008. After a loan at Caley Thistle, Duff was transferred to Inverness on a permanent basis during the 2010-11 season. He played six games for Maltese side Qormi and in February 2012 became the first British player to sample football in Kazakhstan when he joined Premier League side FC Kairat.
Duff had his contract extended by a year but left at the end of the 2013 season as Kazakhstan Premier League rules stated foreign players over 30 had to be current internationals to continue.
