Rothes manager Rab Mulheron was thrilled by his side’s 5-2 home win against Forres Mechanics last Saturday, but knows improvement is needed on the road ahead of tonight’s game against Clachnacuddin at Grant Street Park.
The Speysiders are unbeaten in their last three games at Mackessack Park, but have failed to register a point away from home this season.
Mulheron said: “We have not played well away from home this season. Away to Clach, it’s a hard ask and then there’s a big one on Saturday away to Fort William. We had two horrendous defeats away – at Wick and Nairn – in which we were taught a lesson, so it was great to see the players bounce back and score five on Saturday.
“Our target when playing at home is to make it a place teams don’t want to come, for opposition managers to look at a game away to Rothes as being a tough one.
“We are getting there, but need to start concentrating on our away form.”
Mulheron knows this evening’s opponents will be well warned and added: “It wasn’t so much about the three points on Saturday, it was more the manner of winning – we won by a mile.
“One game doesn’t make us a great team, but it gives us hope for the future.
“Hopefully the supporters and committee members who were there on the day can see we can be a decent team and we can compete.
“We’ve got to show it wasn’t a fluke and we’ve got to show we’re not a bad side.
“Clach is a tough one. Their manager Iain Polworth always seems to have the upper hand against us and we will have to be at our best again.”
