Saturday’s match with Formartine saw the return of Marek Madle, who had left Huntly before the beginning of this season, and also Steve Paterson who had great success with Huntly FC during the very successful 1990s period of the club.
Huntly were looking to improve on a very impressive performance away to Deveronvale midweek which saw us grind out a point in a 0-0 draw, Deveronvale finished the match with 10 men after Liam Forbes was sent off for a late challenge from behind on David Booth.
Unfortunately we didn’t improve on Wednesday night as we were comfortably beaten 6-0 in a game where we didn’t create many chances and showed no fight and desire compared to the Vale match. It’s frustrating that we couldn’t carry the impressive performance from Wednesday into this match, it looked a totally different team out there on the pitch .
The Huntly FC camera club was out in force again for the Formartine United match with myself, Bov Stokes and Davie Henderson having our cameras ready to capture the action shots of the match as it unfolded, my camera had a new lens which was making its debut!
The match was also filmed by Ross Maclean of SHFLTV. I must say the addition of SHFLTV has been fantastic since it started filming its first Highland League match back in August 2013 which incidentally was Cove Rangers v Huntly! Its a great feature of the league and one I’m sure all fans of the Highland League enjoy, especially those who live abroad or are unable to attend matches for whatever reason.
Next week sees us face Buckie Thistle at home in what will be a very tough battle against the Jags, it should be another great encounter before we welcome the Highland League champions 2014 Brora Rangers the following week to Christie Park yet again.
