We won’t win the Highland League this year, but with these recent displays of form and good results, we will have a big say as to who does.
What a really good game Saturday was, against an in-form and dangerous Cove Rangers, finishing 2-2, a share of the points being just about right, despite the best efforts from the referee, Alan Frew, to ruin it.
The game was televised for the Scottish Highland Football League internet channel and if Mr Frew was to watch the game again, I wonder just how many marks out of 10 he would give his performance, at best I would only give him a 5.
A perfectly good goal was disallowed for offside, a blatant penalty not awarded but rather resulted in the Forres player being booked for diving, and there was persistent whistle blowing which disrupted the game instead of letting it flow.
When will referee’s start to realise and understand that the game is not about them? Far too many of them these days are wanting to be the centre of attention when the paying fans just want to see both teams play a game of football – yes, you may have guessed, I am still frustrated!
