Wick Academy hope they can celebrate their 600th Highland League game and end their season in-style with a home win over Strathspey Thistle today.
Academy manager Gordon Connelly said: “Our 600th league match really is a milestone for the club, so we are hoping to finish the season on a high with a good win.
“However, we know Strathspey have improved throughout the season and we know not to take anything for granted having just played Rothes, who we beat 3-2 with a late goal, and Fort William, who we drew 1-1 with at Claggan Park last weekend.
“We stayed off the pitch at training on Wednesday because there had been a lot of rain and the playing surface is actually looking a lot greener now.
“Apart from the injured Ross Allan, we have a full squad to pick from tomorrow.”
Thistle manager Brian Grant is also hoping to end the season on a positive note, although he is with some first choices.
Grant said: “It is probably a more important game for ourselves than it is for Wick.
“However, a home win could see them leapfrog Forres into eight place in the table.
“I would be delighted to leave Harmsworth Park with a point, that would be a nice end to the season.
“But as always happens at this stage, quite a few of the lads are unavailable for the trip to Caithness.
“We will travel without centre half Jamie Fraser, midfielders James McShane and our captain Joe Hardie both have knee injuries and forward Mateusz Bobrowski is unavailable.”
