Lossiemouth manager Charlie Charlesworth was proud of his players for coming out on top in a physical Highland League encounter against Buckie Thistle.
The Coasters secured a memorable victory with three second-half goals, adding to a first-half strike, enough to see off the 10-man Jags.
Charlesworth said: “We were great value in the end. I thought the players did really well, a lot of them were worked hard over Christmas and I thought some of the goals we scored were straight off the training ground.
“I’m not getting carried away as there’s a lot of work to do.”
The visitors had taken an early lead in fortuitous fashion. Shawn Scott attempted to control a Mark Hector punt and in doing so slipped in Scott Dunn, who slid the ball underneath Jags goalkeeper Andy Burr.
Chris Angus hauled the Jags level after 25 minutes when Lossie stopper Connor Hall committed himself to collecting an Andy Low pass with Angus rounding him and firing into the empty net.
Only two minutes into the second half the hosts went ahead as Angus controlled Shaun Carrol’s pass well and outsmarted Hall when one-on-one.
Going behind gave Lossie the inspiration they needed. Scott brought them level by capitalising on a melee in the box and Ryan Farquhar got the third when his weak effort was poorly saved by Burr and slipped into the net.
Buckie were reduced to 10 men when Lewis MacKinnon picked up a second booking for a mis-timed tackle on Scott Miller, having been booked early doors for a lunge on Scott.
Kevin Flett scored Lossie’s fourth and final goal from the penalty spot.
Buckie Thistle interim manager Graeme Stewart said: “We’ve been doing training to play high up the park, to close teams down and not give them space to come in our half, and we didn’t really do that properly. We didn’t play well.”
