Highland League Cove Rangers have fended off interest from League 2 side Montrose by persuading former Dundee United, Caley Thistle and Aberdeen midfielder Stuart Duff to sign a long-term contract.
After impressing in Saturday’s 1-1 home draw against Highland cham-pions Brora Rangers, Duff said: “I’ve signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Cove. I am delighted. When I arrived in October it was just to keep my sharpness going. Cove have a great set of lads and I have enjoyed the whole set-up.
“Now I am working in Aberdeen I wanted to base myself here and I am looking forward to playing for Cove. With a few additions I think we could well be challenging for things next season. I have been pleasantly surprised by the standard of play.”
