The winter weather took its toll on the Highland League today with four of tomorrow’s matches matches falling victim to the elements.
The games between Strathspey Thistle and Huntly, Clach and Formartine United, Keith and Wick Academy and Fort William’s Claggan Park encounter with Fraserburgh have all been postponed.
Further inspections are expected at most grounds tomorrow morning but league leaders Brora Rangers are hopeful their Dudgeon Park encounter with Buckie Thistle will beat the big freeze.
Brora manager Davie Kirkwood and Jags counterpart Graeme Stewart were bed-bound with the flu last weekend but both will be back today.
Kirkwood said: “We are back at the top of the table and we want to stay there but we know we are in for a tough run of games, starting with Buckie Thistle.
“We were disappointed to lose an injury-time goal in last week’s 1-1 draw at Cove Rangers.
“On their day Buckie can frighten you, so we know that we will have to be at our best but we have everyone fit and available which is great.”
Buckie co-caretaker manager Stewart said: “I’m looking forward to our trip to Brora.
“We have prepared pretty well this week but we will be without centre half Lewis MacKinnon, who is suspended. Jay Cheyne and Liam Baxter both return after suspension.”
With three goalkeepers on their books, Formartine United are looking to send former Lossiemouth number one Errol Watson out on-loan for a month.
