Aidan Combe wants to rediscover his best form with new club Formartine United.
The winger could make his debut for the Pitmedden side today against Wick Academy at Harmsworth Park in the preliminary round of the GPH Builders Merchants Highland League Cup.
Combe helped the Broch win the Breedon Highland League, as well as five Evening Express Aberdeenshire Cups and two Morrison Motors (Turriff) Aberdeenshire Shields.
But, this term, the 25-year-old was disappointed with his form and made the tough decision to move elsewhere.
Combe said: “It was a massively difficult decision for me to leave Fraserburgh, having been there for eight years.
“There’s a lot of competition at Fraserburgh and there’s a lot of competition at Formartine.
“I am hoping for a bit more game time, but I didn’t really find the form I was hoping I would find this season with Fraserburgh.
“At Fraserburgh, I was very lucky with the trophies I won and I didn’t really realise how much we’d won until I was leaving.
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to keep winning things and hopefully I can help Formartine do that.”
It’s only a fortnight since Wick faced Formartine at Harmsworth Park on league business, with the visitors triumphing 3-0.
Scorries player-manager Gary Manson is looking for a different outcome and wants to build on last weekend’s Scottish Cup second round win against Benburb.
He said: “The Scottish Cup is a great competition to be involved in, but we’re not going to win it.
“Realistically this is our last chance of winning silverware this season.
“It’s just as big the Scottish Cup game last week. If we want to have a run in it and try to win it, we have to get through.”
