Botti Biabi, left, in action for new club Brechin City against Turriff United in the Highland League.

Botti Biabi believes playing for Brechin City in the Breedon Highland League is the perfect place to relaunch his career.

The 26-year-old striker netted his second goal for the Hedgemen in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Turriff United having arrived at Glebe Park a couple of weeks ago.

Biabi counts Falkirk, Swansea City and Hamilton Academical among his former clubs.

But, having dropped down to part-time level with Stenhousemuir and Kelty Hearts in recent years, things haven’t gone as he hoped.

Biabi said: “Things haven’t worked out how I wanted them to, but that’s football at the end of the day.

“I’m in my prime right now and it’s all about getting my head down and working.

“It’s a good platform for me at Brechin, there’s a great bunch of players and everyone is wanting to learn and get better.

Biabi ‘didn’t really know’ about Highland League before signing

“I didn’t really know anything about the Highland League before I signed, other than a couple of players that played in it.

“I didn’t know any of the teams in the league, but it’s football and it’s a good level.”

Biabi revealed that Brechin’s football advisor Craig Levein played a significant part in him joining the Angus side.

He added: “Craig Levein gave me a text initially and he’s a big name in Scottish football.

“As soon as I saw it come up, I had to reply.

“He gave me a good insight into the club and it just seemed like the right move to make.”
