Strathspey Thistle boss Charlie Brown says they can’t carry passengers in their basement battle.
The Grantown Jags face Clachnacuddin at Grant Street Park tonight in the Breedon Highland League seeking their first win of the season.
Brown’s side are 17th in the table following Banks o’ Dee’s points deduction.
The Seafield Park manager is looking for more from his charges as they try to improve their position.
He said: “We keep talking to the boys about the errors we’re making and where we’re going wrong.
“Hopefully it will start to click pretty soon and we’ll put points on the board.
“We’re in games and we’re fighting to the end, but we’ve been making silly errors at the start of games which is costing us.
“If we can cut them out, we’ll give ourselves a chance.
“We definitely have got quality in the side – Aiden Cruickshank is one who has done well recently.
“But even he knows there are still a lot of things he needs to work hard on in his game and he appreciates that.
“We’re a team that’s fighting for survival and we need 11 players fighting for 90 minutes.
“We can’t afford any passengers, I’ve said to the players that aren’t starting that they need to be ready to come on and battle as well.”
Lilywhites look for points and performances
Clach, meanwhile, are aiming to put a run together, having taken four points from their last two outings.
Manager Jordan MacDonald still believes the Lilywhites can play better, although he accepts picking up points when not at their best is a good habit to have.
He added: “We’ve got Brechin on Saturday and Brora in three weeks, but apart from that the games coming up are against teams around us.
“They’re teams we’re scrapping with and they’re games we’ve got to look to take points off.
“For any team below the top six, I think that’s what we’re all looking to do.
“We need to try to put a run together like we did last year and get some points on the board.
“I think our wins this season have come when we haven’t been at our best.
“We’ll take any victory, but we like to win in a certain way, if we can.
“We need to be on the front foot, play with intensity and try to win the game.”
