Steven Mackay says Nairn County won’t dwell on the “honest mistake” which led to their ejection from the GPH Builders Merchants Highland League Cup.
The Wee County fielded an ineligible player in their first round victory against Lossiemouth last weekend.
Once the mistake was highlighted Nairn were thrown out of the competition and Lossie will now host Brechin City in the quarter-final on December 3.
Station Park boss Mackay said: “It’s disappointing to be out of the cup given the performance the boys put in last weekend.
“It’s one of those things which can happen to anyone. We just take it on the chin and move on, we’re not going to dwell on it.
“Everyone makes mistakes – I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career.
“It’s an oversight but the nature of the error means it gets highlighted because the club exits the cup.
“I can make a tactical mistake or a mistake with team selection or you can make mistake on the pitch which you can get away with or make up for the following week.

“But with a mistake like this you’re out of the cup and that’s it.
“Our secretary Ian Finlayson is a wonderful man and he does so much for the club.
“I spoke to him on Friday and he was quite down about the whole thing and took it to heart.
“It was an honest mistake he didn’t mean to make. We move on, Ian is a massive asset to the club who does so much.
“We’re not dwelling on it at all and we focus on our game against Forres on Saturday.”
