Formartine United chairman Sandy Sinclair says they have nothing to lose ahead of facing Stenhousemuir in the third round of the Scottish Cup.
The Pitmedden side welcome League Two opposition to North Lodge Park on Saturday aiming to reach round four for the third time.
Sinclair is hopeful the young side assembled by manager Stuart Anderson can put in a memorable showing against the Warriors.
He said: “We’re hopeful going into the game, but clearly Stenhousemuir are favourites.
“We’re outsiders, but we’ve got nothing to lose – this is a bonus game for us.
“We’ve got a good record at home against League Two sides.
“We’re a young team and it’s difficult to compare this team to sides in the past that have got results.
“But we’re a good young team and we’re hopeful we can get a result, there’s a great atmosphere around the club at the moment.
“Momentum is a big thing and, if we could get through, it would keep the momentum going.
“There would also be a financial benefit, but in the main it would keep the confidence levels high and add to the atmosphere and momentum building at the club.”
League looks for fourth round representation
Sinclair is also senior vice-president of the Breedon Highland League and is keen to see Fraserburgh and Wick Academy progress as well as his own club.
He added: “From a Highland League perspective, I’ll be delighted if the league is represented in the next round.
“If we could get more than one through that would be even better.
“We’ve all got home ties and you’ve always got a puncher’s chance at home.
“I think all three clubs have a chance – Fraserburgh are playing a Championship side, which will be tricky, but at Bellslea if the wind howls you never know.
“Wick against Falkirk is also tricky, but Wick seem to rise to the occasion in these sort of games.
“As a league if we could get anyone through we’d be delighted, because it looks good for the league as a whole to have that representation.”
