Keith manager Craig Ewen believes Liam Duncan’s return from injury has been like adding a new signing.
The Maroons midfielder has come back from a knee injury in recent weeks and netted his second goal of the season in Saturday’s 2-1 win against Turriff United.
Duncan suffered his injury at the beginning of last season prior to Ewen taking the reins at Kynoch Park.
He said: “Liam’s effectively like a new signing for me. He was signed prior to my arrival and it was early August last year he got injured.
“He’s been building himself up since pre-season and from what we’ve seen so far he’s definitely added a bit of quality to us.
“Liam’s an enthusiastic character and we’re glad he’s fit and available again.
“He’s done well in the games he’s played, he’s still working on his match fitness but it’s great to have him back and he’s popped up with a couple of goals so hopefully it continues.
“He’s an attack-minded player who gives us another option in the final third.”
Breaking the cycle
Keith’s victory at the weekend ended a seven-game winless run and lifted them to 11th in the Breedon Highland League table.
Ewen believes the competition is such in the division that sides in mid-table will always have challenging runs.
He added: “I think most people are well aware there’s probably a gap between the top six and everyone else and then it’s very tight.
“But if you have a bad run of games very quickly you can find yourself on a poor run of form.
“Losing can become a habit just like winning can become a habit so you need to try to break that cycle.
“There are no easy games in the Highland League so any win is much appreciated and you probably need to enjoy them if you’re where we are in the league.”
