The rain battering the country has claimed its first Highland League victim of today with Fort William confirming that tonight’s match against Forres Mechanics has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The postponement is the latest in a series of Fort William games to fall victim to the weather and frustrated manager Calum MacLean said: “We are all getting fed up with the situation. It is the middle of March and we have only played twice since Christmas, both of them against Nairn County, and both ended in 4-0 defeats, although when you see that County beat Rothes 9-0 at Mackessack Park last weekend our losses weren’t all that bad.
“We had been on a four in a row winning run but the problem now is that we have lost all the momentum we had built up towards the end of the year.
“It has been so frustrating. We all know how wet Fort William can be and the pitch at Claggan Park just isn’t holding up.”
